MAC Syrup Lipstick: Swatch and Review!

Today I'm going to share with you my first MAC lipstick purchase! I saw this color online and drooled over it for many months so I thought it would be worth picking up.

Let me start off with a quick complaint, can I just say I think this lipstick smells horrible? I always heard it smelled like vanilla but this very much had an old lipstick smell, eww. I didn't like it at all.

This is a lustre finish, so it is kind of sheer and has a nice sheen to it. I was kind of hoping for it to be a little more pigmented, but on the lips it does look pretty.

It's described as a cloudy pink, and thats what it is. I do really like this lipstick, but it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Definitely doesn't look as good on my lips as it does on most people. Regardless, I definitely recommend this lipstick if you are in the market for a wearable every day fall lipstick :)

Have you tried this lipstick? What are your thoughts on it?

Similar Product for MAC Woodwinked

Today I’m sharing with you guys two eyeshadows that I find strangely similar. Fair warning, this is not an exact dupe! I just was so impressed by the beauty of MAC’s woodwinked, that I thought I would share this similar eyeshadow with you all. Feel free to disagree, just trying to provide an affordable option for you guys that can pretty much give you the same look on the eyes. Also, I'm sure you can find something even more similar to this in say a coastal scents palette, but I wanted to let you guys know about this incase you were wanting to try woodwinked but couldn't spend the money on it.

As you can tell, they look nothing alike in the pan. You can already tell which product is better quality, as well, along with the slight differences I've found in them. Let's look at swatches because that is where the magic happens.

My “similar” product can be found in the Maybelline Chai Latte quad. The lid shade is a beautiful shimmery golden brown color. I consider MAC woodwinked to be a shimmery bronzy gold brown as well. The main difference I see with them is the finish. The Maybelline one is definitely shimmery in the sense that is will transfer shimmer onto the eyes (as in little sparkles). The MAC one, however, just has a nice pretty sheen to it (no apparent shimmer) and is very metallic. And I would say woodwinked leans more “orangey” than the other. When I wear these on my eyes I pretty much cannot tell the difference. And I will say MAC eyeshadows are easier to work with, but for the price difference I feel you could easily work with a cheaper product.

So even though I cannot consider these “exact dupes”, I definitely can tell you these products are “similar”. If you are looking for a really affordable alternative for MAC woodwinked, I would pick up the Maybelline quad. MAC eyeshadow = $12 for the pan. Maybelline quad = ~ $4.99.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. What are your favorite MAC dupes? Leave them down below!

Review: Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells Trio!

Today I'm going to share my thoughts with you guys on the Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells trio. Excuse my really dirty palette.

As you can probably tell, this trio has gotten quite a bit of love from me. Each eyeshadow has words indented in them to tell you how you can use these colors. This trio includes a browbone shade, crease, and lid color.

Pictures of the swatches are taken in natural lighting.
Browbone: Light shimmery gold/white shade (MAC shroom dupe)
Crease: Bronzey brown shade (MAC cork dupe)
Lid: Peachy pink shade (my favorite) (MAC naked lunch)

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is amazing, and the consistency is very creamy. I still make sure to tap off the access when using these shades to prevent fallout but it's not required.

Now let's talk about how I use this palette. I do not use the browbone shade on my browbone. This is a beautiful inner corner shade. The other two I use as directed. As you can tell, the lid shade has been a favorite of mine, I use this any day I want to wear a natural simple eye.

Wet n Wild shades easily rival my MAC eyeshadows. While I love MAC shadows, I love that Wet n Wild is able to produce shades that are almost exact dupes (three in one palette?!) For $2.99, these trios are hard to beat. I recommend you guys pick this palette up! Please, go now!

Do you have any trios by Wet n Wild you think I should try out? Leave your suggestions down below!

Products I've Been Loving: 11/18-11/24!

Today I'm going to be sharing with you all the products I've been loving this past week!

I'm going to hop right into it!
Covergirl Lash Perfection + L'Oreal Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen Mascaras: I believe that is the name of the L'Oreal mascara! I have very wimpy lashes, but these two in conjuction with each other work very well for me. I curl my lashes, apply the Covergirl one first to get length, and then use the L'Oreal one for volume. If you would like to see either a video of how I do this or just before an after pictures including a description of the process in detail, let me know! But to be honest, I do not like these mascaras much on their own. They just don't do enough for me.

Wet n Wild Mega Liner: This one showed up again because I had a pretty laid back week makeup wise, so I usually only wore eyeliner, no eyeshadow so I had to include this again.

Maybelline Pure Stay Powder Foundation: I've only been using this for about a week, but I am loving it. I use this without concealer underneath and still get really great coverage. Let me just tell you, I have really bad redness, but this covered it up all day. Amazing and unheard of. This lasts like all day too which I love. Now, talc is a main ingredient and I know there is a lot of controversy about that in makeup products, but I am still forming an opinion on it. If you guys have any good information I should know about talc, let me know in a comment please! Love this, not sure if I will repurchase, depends what I continue to learn about talc.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Muse: Had to mention this because it has been on my nails all week and has barely chipped. The color is beautiful for fall in my opinion. It is a dark gray taupe color that can appear to have a hint of purple as well.

Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake: This color looks very intimidating when you look at in, but on my lips it is honestly very natural and looks beautiful. I pulled this out of my collection this week and I can't believe how much I love this. It is very moisturizing and doesn't make my lips look dry (my number one complaint with lip products).

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly: This gets a huge shoutout this week since I was lazy with makeup. This hides the veins that pop through above my eyes and keeps my eyeliner on all day long. I just can't rave about this enough. It is my favorite eye primer and I will purchase it next time I run out.

Well that is it for my favorite products this week! Sorry the products were so boring, I didn't feel like doing much with my makeup! I'm going to have a post up very soon that is fitness related, so I hope you guys will check back for that!

If you have an suggestions for some great holiday gift sets from high end makeup brands you have tried or want to try, please leave a comment below. I'm trying to find some sets that I can try out / review!

Thanks so much for stopping by again guys :)

Rave & Rant: Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks

I'm a huge fan of Revlon lip products, especially their Colorburst lipsticks. This is why I was so surprised to have a holy grail and hate product both from the same line.

Let's start out with Baby Pink. By looking at the top of the packaging, this looks like it would be a beautiful pink color with a hint of shimmer. Sounds so pretty, right? When swatched, you can tell how frosty this shade really is. I automatically knew this would not look flattering on my lips.

My first problem I have with this shade? It is so sheer. And second of all, it just transfers as frost onto my lips. The frost latches on to all the lines on my lips and makes them looked ultra chapped. I never wear this shade because I simply do not like the look of it and I do not feel I can pull it off. It is very drying on my lips as well.

Now let's talk about my holy grail nude lipstick. Soft Nude. I would consider this more of a peachy nude lip color and it is very flattering with my pale skin.

The formulation on this is very nice, however I do still apply a lip balm underneath so this color goes on smooth and looks nice on my lips. This nude will not work for everyone, but if you are a pale girl like I am definitely give this one a shot!

Overall, I am very impressed with this lipstick line. I would never recommend Baby Pink to you guys, however. If you are into frosty lipsticks on your lips though, give it a shot.

These retail for about $7, depending where you are picking these up. I actually found these at Big Lots quite a while ago and only paid $2 for each so I cannot complain too much about Baby Pink, but I'd feel ripped off spending $7 for that thing. I definitely would spend $7 for the rest of this line though!

Hope this review was helpful for you guys. Do you have any lipstick suggestions for me?

Nail Talk: What I Wore This Week!

Happy Sunday, everyone! Today I am going to talk about the nail looks I wore this week. I'll give little reviews along the way to let you know what I thought about the products. Keep reading if you are interested :)

First off, I tried out the imPRESS press on manicure in payback. I've been wanting to try this out for a long time, but was very skeptical. On a recent shopping trip to Walgreens, I found this on sale for $3.99 and it was lepoard print, which I adore. Score. Or so I thought. The packaging claims it could last up to a week. I put these on last Sunday night and by Tuesday morning they were already off. They didn't even last two full days, say what? The lasting power was not good enough for me. The only way I'll ever buy these again is if I see another cute pair I like for a special occassion. On Sale.

Finally, I enjoyed this manicure so much I wore it the remainder of the week. Sally Hansen Pacific Blue with Sinful Colors Nail Junkie on top. Can I just say I loved this combination? This didn't chip on me all the way up until Sunday (today) when I finally decided to take it off. I'm very impressed with the lasting power on this. Both are really great products.

If you were interested in the imPRESS nails, I personally wouldn't recommend them because for a days wear it was a waste of both money and my time. I definitely recommend the other two nails polishes though!

Thanks for stopping by guys :)

Products I've Been Loving: 11/11-11/17/12!

Good morning, everyone!

I thought it would be a fun idea to do a weekly favorites type post for you guys. Since I'm just starting this blog, it will help you guys get a feel for the products I like to use and will really tell you which products I love if they keep appearing in these posts. Let me know if you guys like this idea in a comment please!

As you guys will learn, I am mainly a drugstore girl. Anyways, lets get started!

Wet n Wild Mega Liner: This is the best liquid liner I have ever used. It is very user friendly. I hated liquid liner until I discovered this product. I currently have this in the color 860 black sparkle. I bought this on accident after running out of the plain black one but this one is still just as good. Just not as black as 861.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose: This is a beautiful pink that is definitely purple/mauve toned. Let me know if you would like me to include a swatch of this on my lips in a future review. One thing I like about this product is it is a very wearable pink and once it sets into your lips, it doesn't transfer to your drink, which I love.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder: I have this in the color 011 creamy natural. This is just a light setting powder that never looks cakey on my skin. I have an oily t-zone and I will be honest this doesn't keep me matte all day. It is just an inexpensive powder that makes my skin look nice.

MAC Satin Taupe: This is a beautiful cool toned purpley taupe color. On my eyes, it just transfers as a shimmery taupe color and it looks good with any look I pair it with. I will definitely post pictures of looks I create with this eyeshadow if you are interested.

Coastal Scents Pro Blending Fluff brush (250): This is an amazing crease brush. I use this every day for adding color into my crease, and then to blend out my look. So multi-purpose and works great.

Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells Palette: I've been using the eyelid shade only this week. It is a frosty light peachy pink color. I like pairing this with MAC satin taupe.

So there you go guys! Those are the products I've been loving this week! Let me know if you would like me to individually review any of them because I am definitely willing to. Also, leave me comments letting me know if you like this type of post. I'd love to know your feedback.
